Membership Categories

There are six categories of membership of the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists:

FULL MEMBERSHIP

Open to:

  • consultants or equivalent medical practitioners, qualified in anaesthesia and clinically active in the care of cardiothoracic patients.
  • consultants or equivalent medical practitioners qualified in anaesthesia who are actively involved in research in matters relevant to cardiothoracic anaesthesia.

RETIRED FULL MEMBERSHIP

Open to full members who have retired from NHS practice. Retired full members should have reached their 60 th birthday.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Open to Non Consultant Career Grade anaesthetists and anaesthetists in training in Great Britain and Ireland who have an interest in cardiothoracic anaesthesia.

OVERSEAS MEMBERSHIP

Open to overseas practitioners of cardiothoracic anaesthesia of specialist status at the discretion of the Committee.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP

Open to persons not medically qualified, but with an interest in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, at the discretion of the Committee.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

Full members of ACTA who are judged by their peers to be distinguished contributors to cardiothoracic anaesthesia. Honorary membership shall be given by election or by acclaim of the full membership.
